R U L E S A N D R E G U L A T I O N S
Participants agree to abide by regulations of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources under the Game and Fish Act, the Department of
Transportation Small Boat Safety Regulation.
Participants are restricted to angling only in Long Point Bay, west of a line drawn from Long Point Lighthouse to Peacock Point. Each person, before participating in the derby must purchase a derby ticket and pay the entry fee. Each fish entered must be accompanied with signed official paper registration ticket or on-line ticket. Fish will be weighed at the official weigh-in station located at MacDonald Turkey Point Marina 236 Ordnance Drive Turkey Point, between the hours of 10am to 3pm on Saturday June 22th 2024. Weigh-in closes at 3pm sharp! You must be in line to weigh in before the 3pm cut off time no exceptions. The line will be monitored to prevent anyone from entering after cut off. Prizes will be awarded in two categories, Large Mouth Bass and Small Mouth Bass.
Ranking of fish will be based on gross weight of individual fish entered. In case of a tie, first fish weighed-in will be placed ahead. NO ANGLER WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR MORE THEN ONE PRIZE. One fish per ticket. NO UPGRADES ALLOWED.
All fish entered must have been caught by the angler entering such fish. Any attempt, in any manner to falsify entries can result in prosecution and prize forfeited. The organizers will not be liable for the loss of property or injury to the person of any contestant or spectator.
By purchasing this ticket contestants compete in the derby at their risk and agree to hold the sponsors the agents and employees thereof harmless from any liability claims and costs of any nature whatsoever. By purchasing this ticket, the ticket holder agrees and fully understands that the sponsors assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever to any entrant for any loss of life or property howsoever caused.
All disputes pertaining to eligibility, acceptability, or weight of any fish and interpretation of these rules shall be determined by judges whose decision shall be final and binding.
Each participant, by paying the entry fee acknowledges he or she has read and understood the rules of this contest and undertakes to abide by all the rules of the derby committee and decisions of the judges.
Participants agree that only Bass that are whole may be entered. Fish that have snag or foul hook mark, gaff or gill net mark, even if they
were taken legitimately by the contestant will NOT be accepted as an entry for a prize. Entries may be disqualified upon examination by a derby committee or fish biologist. A fish may only be entered only once and may be marked at the weigh-in station.
All persons between the ages of 18 and 65 must have a valid Ontario fishing license or equivalent. A non-resident license is required for those residing outside of Ontario. The presentation of prizes will take place on June 23th 2023 at ~3pm at The weigh in stage, in front of The Jetty Bar & Grill located at the MacDonald Turkey Point Marina 236 Ordnance Drive Turkey Point.
All prizes must be accepted as awarded and claimed within one month from the derby.
Any contestant wishing to officially protest the conduct or score of another entrant must do so in writing, delivered to the tournament committee prior to the closing of the weigh station. The tournament committee shall be the sole judge in determining if an infraction of the rules or spirit of the tournament and sportsmanship has taken place and shall take whatever action is deemed appropriate. All decisions of the committee, MNR official or law enforcement officials are final.
IF THE DERBY IS SHORTENED OR CANCELED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, NO RAIN DATE WILL BE OFFERED BUT A RANDOM DRAW WILL BE HELD FOR ALL CASH PRIZES FROM ALL PAID ENTRIES
