David Francey is a Scottish-born Canadian folk singer-songwriter and storyteller, widely regarded as one of Canada's most influential folk voices. Born on November 17, 1954, in Ayrshire, Scotland, he emigrated to Canada and worked as a carpenter and rail yard laborer before turning to music. Francey has released 13 albums, including Torn Screen Door (1999), So Say We All (2013), and his latest, The Breath Between (2023), and has earned four Juno Awards and three Canadian Folk Music Awards. His songwriting often reflects working-class life, personal experience, and social commentary, delivered with poignant lyrics and a warm, authentic voice. Francey continues to tour extensively, sharing intimate performances and connecting with audiences across Canada and internationally.
