The magic lantern, invented in the 17th century, was all the rage in 2D entertainment for nearly 300 years. Just like films today, lantern slides were used to tell stories. This presentation, led by The County Museums' Curator and Collections Manager, will speak to the history and influence of the Magic Lantern, and will showcase some of the incredible slides from our collection, including images of 19th century Picton!
