As played in a brilliant performance by the great comedic actor Michaela Watkins, the title character of Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart's alternately sly and sweet third feature is a woman at a crossroads. Still reeling from her recent divorce from her husband and adjusting to life as an empty nester when her daughter goes away to university, Suze is not prepared for the further disruptions caused by Gage (Charlie Gillespie), her daughter's newly dumped boyfriend. Nevertheless, the bond that forms between the two brings great warmth to Clark and Stewart's hugely enjoyable story of familial complications and accidental connections, which recently won the Air Canada Canadian Narrative Feature prize at the Calgary film festival.
