cleopatrick (stylized in lowercase) is a Canadian rock duo formed in Cobourg, Ontario, consisting of childhood friends Luke Gruntz (vocals, guitar) and Ian Fraser (drums). Emerging in the mid-2010s, the pair built early momentum through gritty, riff-driven singles like “hometown,” “daphne did it,” and “san jake,” which blended garage rock heaviness with minimalist, drum-and-guitar intensity. Their 2018 EP The Boys helped establish their raw, DIY aesthetic, released through their own label, Nowhere Special Recordings. In 2021, they issued their debut full-length album Bummer, featuring tracks such as “FAMILY VAN,” “THE DRAKE,” and “VICTORIA PARK,” further expanding their dynamic sound while maintaining a stripped-down, high-impact approach often compared to bands like Royal Blood. Known for explosive live performances and a fiercely independent ethos, cleopatrick developed a substantial international following before releasing their second studio album, Fake Moon, in 2025. With hundreds of thousands of monthly Spotify listeners and a reputation for blending alternative rock, post-grunge textures, and modern production, the duo has become one of Ontario’s most prominent contemporary rock exports.
