
Katie Schlaikjer is an accomplished cellist recognized for her expressive musicianship, chamber music expertise, and dedication to musical education. Originally from Boston, she earned degrees from the New England Conservatory and Stony Brook University before establishing an international performing career. Schlaikjer is a member of the JUNO Award–winning Penderecki String Quartet, quartet in residence at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, where she also serves as Artist in Residence and teaches cello, strings, and chamber music. She has performed extensively across North America and abroad at major concert series and festivals, appearing as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral collaborator. Known for her rich tone, precision, and collaborative sensitivity, she brings depth and clarity to both classical masterworks and contemporary repertoire. In addition to her performance career, Schlaikjer is a respected educator and mentor, frequently working with young musicians through festivals, masterclasses, and adjudication. Her work reflects a strong commitment to artistic excellence, ensemble performance, and the ongoing vitality of chamber music.
