Michael Palumbo is a Canadian electroacoustic musician, improviser, and educator whose practice centers on modular synthesis, distributed creativity, and the evolving relationship between performer and technology. Holding advanced academic credentials (PhD, MA, BFA), Palumbo’s research and artistic output intersect, exploring temporality, collaboration, and interactive systems within experimental music. He is widely associated with Toronto’s creative music community and is the founder and curator of Exit Points, a concert series dedicated to carefully produced free-improvisation performances that foreground attentive listening and risk-taking. As a performer, Palumbo works with modular synthesizers, custom electronic systems, electric guitar, and live processing, often constructing responsive environments where sound emerges through dialogue between human gesture and machine logic. His recorded catalogue includes Early Electroacoustic Works volumes and releases under the alias Thispatcher, highlighting both composed studio explorations and spontaneous performance-based works.
