One Leg One Eye is an experimental solo music project created by Irish musician Ian Lynch, best known as a founding member of the Dublin folk group Lankum. The project explores a darker and more atmospheric side of traditional Irish music, blending elements of drone, folk, noise, and experimental soundscapes to create slow-building compositions that draw heavily on themes from Irish history, folklore, and mythology. One Leg One Eye gained attention with the 2022 album And Take the Black Worm With Me, which features layered drones, minimalist instrumentation, and haunting vocal performances that reinterpret traditional musical ideas through a modern experimental lens. The music often unfolds in long, meditative pieces that gradually evolve in tone and intensity, creating a hypnotic listening experience influenced by both ancient folk traditions and contemporary avant-garde music. Through this project, Lynch expands beyond the sound of Lankum to explore deeper sonic textures and mythic storytelling, performing at international experimental music festivals and touring with artists in the post-rock, drone, and underground folk scenes.
