Rose Cousins (born April 21, 1977) is a Prince Edward Island–born, Halifax-based folk-pop singer-songwriter whose emotionally incisive writing and luminous vocals have made her one of Canada’s most respected contemporary roots artists. Emerging with early independent releases like Miles to Go (2003) and If You Were for Me (2006), she gained national acclaim with We Have Made a Spark (2012), which earned a JUNO Award for Adult Alternative Album of the Year, and continued that momentum with Natural Conclusion (2017), winning the 2018 JUNO for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year. Cousins’ work blends intimate piano balladry with acoustic folk textures, exploring themes of love, longing, resilience, and emotional reckoning in songs such as “Let the Light Come In,” “Begin Again,” and “Forget Me Not.” Her 2025 release, Conditions of Love Vol. 1, further showcases her gift for nuanced storytelling and melodic restraint. A frequent collaborator and touring artist across Canada, the U.S., and internationally, Cousins is known for deeply engaging live performances that balance vulnerability, wit, and quiet intensity.
