Signal Hill is a four-piece acoustic, harmony-driven rock band originally formed in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 1991 and now based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, widely recognized as one of Eastern Canada’s premier live party bands. Built around interwoven acoustic guitars and tight four-part vocal harmonies, the group blends traditional Newfoundland, Irish, and East Coast folk influences with classic rock and high-energy pop covers, creating a setlist that moves seamlessly from sea shanties and Celtic standards to crowd-pleasing anthems. Over more than three decades, Signal Hill has toured extensively across Canada and internationally, performing everywhere from local Maritime pubs to festivals in Europe, Russia, West Africa, and the Caribbean. They are especially known for electrifying renditions of songs like “Heave Away” and “Home for a Rest,” along with spirited live recordings such as Live at the Lower Deck. With multiple studio and live albums released on independent labels, a reputation for marathon performances, and a loyal following across the East Coast, Signal Hill remains a staple of festival stages, waterfront concerts, and packed late-night venues.
