The Surfrajettes are a four-piece instrumental surf rock band from Toronto, Ontario, formed in 2015 and widely recognized as leaders in the modern surf revival. The lineup features Shermy Freeman on lead guitar, Nicole Damoff on rhythm guitar, Sarah Butler on bass, and Annie Lillis on drums. Drawing inspiration from 1960s surf pioneers like The Ventures and Dick Dale, the band blends vintage Fender reverb-drenched tones with crisp, contemporary production and a playful retro visual style. They gained early viral attention with their twang-heavy instrumental cover of Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” showcasing their knack for transforming unexpected pop songs into high-energy surf arrangements. Signed to Hi-Tide Recordings, The Surfrajettes released their debut full-length album Roller Fink in 2022, featuring original tracks like “Couch Surfing” and “Banzai Pipeline,” followed by newer singles including “Easy as Pie.” Known for synchronized stage outfits, melodic hooks, and tight musicianship, they tour extensively across North America and internationally, performing at clubs, festivals, and specialty retro events while building a devoted global fanbase.
