About York Chamber Ensemble

The York Chamber Ensemble, based in York Region, Ontario, is a dynamic strings-focused ensemble dedicated to bringing the excitement and richness of live classical music to audiences of all ages. Since its founding, the ensemble has showcased a wide spectrum of repertoire, from beloved Baroque and Classical masterworks to contemporary pieces and creative collaborations that highlight the versatility of string performance. Under the leadership of Maestro Michael Berec, the York Chamber Ensemble has become known for its polished sound, engaging programs, and ability to connect emotionally with listeners, whether in intimate church settings or larger community venues. Their concert seasons often feature acclaimed guest soloists, choral partnerships, and themed performances such as Mozart to Movies, weaving together tradition and innovation to keep classical music vibrant and accessible. As a volunteer-driven group of passionate musicians, the ensemble is deeply rooted in community engagement, performing regularly in Aurora, Newmarket, and surrounding areas, and offering audiences an inspiring journey through the timeless beauty of music.
