A rare Toronto appearance by legendary NYC composer / trombonist Peter Zummo. Playing a selection of new and old works with Hugh Marsh (violin), Kurt Newman (pedal steel guitar), Michael Davidson (vibes), Josh Cole (electric bass), Blake Howard (percussion), Phil Melanson (percussion), and Sandro Perri (electronics).
"An important exponent of the American contemporary classical tradition."
Peter Zummo is a composer and trombonist from NYC. He has described his work as "minimalism plus a whole lot more." Pitchfork called Zummo's music “the sound of sublimity…that sends shivers down the nervous system”. He worked closely with cellist/composer Arthur Russell for over a decade, forging an unmistakable connection expressed in many of their respective works. A brief list of other collaborators includes The Lounge Lizards, Pauline Oliveros, Phill Niblock, Arnold Dreyblatt, Elodie Lauten, Kid Creole, Jon Gibson, Vernon Reid, and "Blue" Gene Tyranny. Zummo’s most recent work, Deep Drive 2+, was released this spring on Tin Angel Records.

Dun-Dun Trio is Craig Dunsmuir (electric guitar), Josh Cole (electric bass), and Jay Anderson (electronic hand percussion). Partial to odd-time, repetitive unison riff medleys, DDT performs the music of both Dun-Dun Band (who recently released their debut EP, Riff Ref, on Toronto's Dark Matter label) and Dun-Dun Man (single-line guitarist and riff referee Craig D). A mass of self-released material complements Dunsmuir’s two acclaimed LPs (as Kanada 70 and Glissandro 70) on Montreal’s Constellation Records.

Masahiro Takahashi is a Toronto-based Japanese composer-musician who makes spellbinding works of electronic abstraction with a delicate touch. His most recent LP, Humid Sun, earned a glowing review at Bandcamp’s Album Of The Day. “It’s loaded with striking melodic beauty and soft textures applied to visions of nature’s grand design and tiny details of urban existence, delivered primarily in pristine digital strokes”. Takahashi has released music on Telephone Explosion Records, Not Not Fun, Jj Funhouse, and Slow Editions.
