The Grave Misunderstanding is a 3 piece art rock band from Chatham founded in 2007 known for high energy, thought provoking original rock influenced by a plethora of artists incl. SOAD, RHCP & MUSE, also sporting various covers by these bands and others. GMUS was created and written by Philip Smith of 'Big Shiny Toons' performing vocals/guitar, with long time friend and jam mate Brandon Butler of 'Time is a Hymn' & 'the God life' playing drums. Bass extraordinaire Andy Martin, amoung other various players have joined Brandon and Philip over the years of live performance. Philip & Brandon are now joined by Josh Hinch of 'I See Aura' playing bass/backup vocals! An unstoppable trio of precision, emotion and heavy, beautiful, funk! .Gracie Mae. is a 3 piece ambient rock band formed in the fall of 2012. Releasing 4 EPs between 2012 and 2015, the band notoriety for their etherial sounds and soundscapes, with a driving rhythm section and over the top vocals. Taking comparisons to Alexisonfire, Deftones, Tool and Thrice, the trio pushed the envelope with their ongoing conceptual songwriting. Gaining radio play across Canada, .Gracie Mae. performed extensively throughout their short tenure as a band, and in 2015, due to scheduling and growing up, a decision was made to put a hiatus on the band. 2015-2018 Aaron released 6 singles under the .Gracie Mae. Moniker, and the band reunited for one show in the winter of 2019. With plans to continue, Covid hit….and the plans ceased.
Fast forward to fall 2023…..and we’re ready to do it again.

“Gracie Mae” is Ryan Caron (of 89Next), Tanner Havens (99.1 CKXS morning show host), and Aaron Barry (Big Shiny Toons).
