Joining forces with three stellar soloists, The York Chamber Ensemble presents “Apprentice and Master” on March 23, 2024 at St. Paul’s Anglican, Newmarket, weaving a musical tapestry that transcends generations. Cellist Barbara Dickson brings Tchaikovsky’s lyrically expressive Nocturne for Cello and Orchestra to life, while 9 year-old piano prodigy Fiona Shuyi Weng showcases her talent with Bach’s beloved Keyboard Concerto no. 7. A composition penned in a mere three weeks, Saint-Saëns’ virtuosic Piano Concerto no.2, interpreted by the award-winning pianist Coral Solomon, promises to captivate listeners. Blending seasoned mastery and emerging brilliance, this event surely should not be missed.
