HORSEMAN, PASS BY. w/ CONNOR BENNETT
(havelock, ottawa, and hamilton)
Horseman, Pass By. is a Havelock/Ottawa-based duo of Bennett Bedoukian (Drums and Electronics) and Mark Molnar (Cello and Electronics). They have been playing together for years, have ground gears out on 2 cars, wasted countless hours wandering half liminal and wrung out through truck stops on masticated highways across eastern Canada.
Horseman, Pass By. will be joined again by Connor Bennett
Connor Bennett is a musician, craftsperson, and arts organizer in Hamilton, Ontario. They play saxophone in a variety of musical contexts (Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Blue Moss, Ylang Ylang, NPNP, Eschaton, Tidal Pool, Lee/Palmer/Bennett, and Ghost Variables). Their craft is in custom mouthpiece making for woodwinds (CJBennett Mouthpieces), which informs their approach to the saxophone and its sonic potential. Connor is also a founding member of the Hamilton Audio Visual Node (HAVN) and has worked there in collaboration with many other artists in the curation and organization of concerts, art shows, events, and series.
SUNNY MALIK
(peterborough)
Distinct among the other hats they wear, and for the purposes of this show, Sunny Malik is a noise musician. Sunny’s new noise material focuses on their recent explorations of software modular synthesis, building resonant noisemakers out of reclaimed scrap bicycle parts, and blending the two wherever they mesh in especially discordant ways. Expect: bicycle wheel squeaking and squealing, noises of resonant metal grinding grotesquely over a backdrop of dying low-frequency oscillators. Expect: texture, surprises. Expect: to forevermore hear the musicality in dying bicycles.
