Mackenzie Hall, located in Windsor's historic Sandwich neighbourhood, is a landmark cultural centre with deep roots in Canadian history. Originally built between 1854 and 1856 as the Essex County Courthouse by architect Albert Jordan, the stately two-storey stone building was later named in honour of Alexander Mackenzie, Canada's second Prime Minister, who once worked on its construction. Today, Mackenzie Hall serves as a vibrant hub for the arts and community life, offering performing arts space, a theatre, art galleries, meeting facilities, and a ballroom that blends heritage charm with modern function. Operated by the City of Windsor, the centre hosts concerts, exhibitions, theatre productions, and community events, while also being home to Mackenzie Hall Jazz, Canada's longest-running jazz concert series. With its elegant historic architecture and versatile event spaces, Mackenzie Hall continues to be both a cultural landmark and a gathering place for Windsor residents and visitors alike.
