Bonnie Sitter is an accomplished Canadian author and photographer based in Exeter, Ontario, dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of rural life and Canadian history. A fourth-generation Hogarth family member, Sitter spent much of her life in Deep River, Ontario, before returning to Huron County, where she draws inspiration from the land and community around her. After retiring from over 40 years in the travel industry, she turned her focus to writing and photography, producing works that capture both the personal and historical significance of Ontario’s agricultural heritage. She is best known for co-authoring Onion Skins and Peach Fuzz: Memories of Ontario Farmerettes, which chronicles the experiences of young women who contributed to Canada’s farms during World War II, and for her involvement in the documentary We Lend a Hand: The Forgotten Story of Ontario Farmerettes. Beyond historical research, Sitter creates engaging photography, publishes books, calendars, and note cards, and participates in community events, blending storytelling, historical preservation, and artistry to celebrate Canadian culture and the resilience of its rural communities.
