About Carlos Rivera

Carlos Rivera is a multidisciplinary theatre artist, choreographer, and director based in Kitchener, Ontario. He is the creator and director of Rosa, a performance that tells the story of an Indigenous woman from Ixtacamaxtitlan, Puebla, who escapes an abusive household while carrying her six children. Rivera's work blends movement, storytelling, and cultural narratives to explore themes of survival, resilience, and Indigenous identity. Rosa has been presented at venues including the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts in Kitchener and the Factory Theatre in Toronto, and has been featured at festivals such as RUTAS. Rivera often collaborates with performers and communities to bring socially and culturally rich stories to the stage, combining choreography, theatrical performance, and personal histories.
