Elliott Landy is an acclaimed American photographer and writer best known for creating some of the most enduring images of the 1960s classic rock era, capturing the spirit, intimacy, and cultural impact of a transformative generation in music. Born in 1942, Landy emerged as one of the first music photographers to be widely recognized as a fine artist, documenting legendary musicians at pivotal moments in their careers with a rare sense of trust and authenticity. He is especially renowned for his iconic photographs of Bob Dylan during the Woodstock period, including images associated with Nashville Skyline, as well as his deeply personal and historically significant work with The Band between 1968 and 1969, much of which is collected in his celebrated multi-volume book series The Band Photographs. Landy also photographed influential artists such as Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Van Morrison, creating images that feel both candid and timeless.
