Kawalease Arab Canadian Theatre (Kawalease ACT) is a Calgary-based, non-profit theatre organization dedicated to celebrating and sharing Arab culture through compelling performance arts. Founded by Artistic Director Sleman Aldib, Kawalease ACT provides a platform for Arab artists to connect, collaborate, and showcase their talents while engaging communities across Canada. The company produces thought-provoking works that explore the Arab experience, often using immersive and participatory theatre formats. Notable productions include The Opposite, created in partnership with Swallow-a-Bicycle Theatre, which invites audiences to experience the challenges of displacement and refugee life by reversing the Canadian-Syrian refugee perspective.
