Matthew Good and His Band, originally known as the Matthew Good Band, is a Canadian alternative rock group formed in Coquitlam, British Columbia, in 1995. Led by singer-songwriter and guitarist Matthew Good, the band quickly rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s with a string of hits, including “Everything Is Automatic,” “Apparitions,” “Load Me Up,” and “Beautiful Midnight,” blending introspective lyrics with guitar-driven melodies and cinematic soundscapes. The classic lineup included Matthew Good, guitarist/keyboardist Dave Genn, drummer Ian Browne, and bassist Geoff Lloyd, who was later replaced by Rich Priske. Over its active years, the band released influential albums such as Last of the Ghetto Astronauts (1995), Underdogs (1997), Beautiful Midnight (1999), and The Audio of Being (2001), earning critical acclaim and Juno Awards. Despite disbanding in 2002 due to creative differences, Matthew Good continued a successful solo career. Today, Matthew Good and His Band tour nationally, delivering powerful live performances that celebrate the legacy of the band while combining his enduring passion for alternative rock with contemporary musical expression.
