
Moshe Hammer is an Israeli-Canadian violinist known for his expressive tone, long international performance career, and dedication to music education and community outreach. Born in Budapest in 1946 and raised in Israel, he later became a Canadian citizen in 1975 after establishing himself as a respected classical performer. He studied at institutions such as the Juilliard School, Tel Aviv University, and the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, which shaped his refined interpretive style and technical mastery. Over the decades, Hammer has performed internationally, recording works by composers including Paganini and Saint-Saëns, and earning recognition for his warm, lyrical sound. Beyond performance, he is widely known for founding The Hammer Band, a charitable initiative that uses music education to support youth and promote positive social change in underserved communities. Through this organization and his teaching work, he has mentored many young musicians across Canada. Today, he continues to balance performing, education, and advocacy, remaining an influential figure in Canada’s classical music landscape. He remains active as a performer and educator inspiring new generations of violinists across Canada.
