Neil Turbin, born December 24, 1963, in New York, is an American heavy metal vocalist best known as the original full-time lead singer of Anthrax, where his powerful, high-register vocals defined the band's 1984 debut album Fistful of Metal and helped shape the sound of early thrash. After parting ways with Anthrax, Turbin continued to carve out his place in heavy metal, fronting bands such as DeathRiders and Bleed The Hunger, as well as performing with Steel Prophet, showcasing his versatility across thrash, traditional heavy metal, and hard rock. A prolific songwriter and dynamic performer, he has toured internationally, headlined festivals, and collaborated with numerous musicians, consistently demonstrating his passion for the genre. Inducted into the Metal Hall of Fame in 2019, Turbin remains respected not only for his historic role in Anthrax's rise but also for his ongoing dedication to keeping classic metal alive through both new projects and celebratory tours, including anniversaries of Fistful of Metal. With over four decades in music, he continues to be a vital and influential figure in the metal community.
