The Paul James Band is a Toronto-based blues and rock group founded by Canadian singer-guitarist Paul James Vigna after the breakup of his earlier band Lick’n’Stick, marking the beginning of a long-running career rooted in high-energy, roots-driven music. Emerging in the 1980s, the band became known for blending 1950s rock ’n’ roll influences with Chicago-style electric blues, delivered through James’s gritty vocals and sharp, expressive lead guitar work. Over the years, core members have included Gary Gray on keyboards, Brian Kipping on bass, and Adrian Vecchiola on drums, contributing to a tight, road-tested sound shaped by extensive touring across Canada. Their discography includes albums such as Slow Jive (1984), Lazy Crazy Blues (1999), and Lost in the Blues (2007), featuring original tracks like “Good Old Rock’n’Roll,” “The Blues Walk In,” and “Love Changin’ Blues.” Renowned for dynamic live shows at Toronto venues including the Phoenix Concert Theatre, the band has maintained a reputation for authentic, danceable blues-rock driven by original songwriting and enduring stage presence.
