Enjoy a concert of music by J.S. Bach, and Beatles tunes arranged for string quartet, and featuring some local artists as soloists! Whether you’re a fan of the classical repertoire or a fan of the Beatles, this concert has something for everyone - featuring pieces like Bach’s ‘Ave Maria’ and ‘Violin Concerto in d minor’ for 2 violins, ‘Come Together’, ‘Yesterday’ and ‘Hey Jude’ by the Beatles, and many more.
Purpose
The goal of this concert is to bring a unique musical experience to the community that features local artists, as well as raise money to donate in support of the new KDSS music program. Elaborate on this - where the money is going, what it will be used for, why we are raising money for the school, why we believe it is important to support music in the community, etc.
The presenting body, For the Love of Music, was created in 2012 by the Beard Family to bring quality music to the community of Wingham and support local charitable organizations in the process. We operate on a ‘break-even’ basis, with any excess funds going toward supporting future projects in the community. Last year we raised $3450 for the North Huron Community Food Share, and about $2100 for the Community Outreach & Accessibility Enhancement project at St. George’s Anglican Church. For the Love of Music is pleased to be able to support the Kincardine Messiah Society in their efforts to support music education in the local community.
Who are the musicians?: ‘Thomas Beard & friends’ is a string quartet composed of violinists Russell Iceberg and Maude Fréchette, violist Stephanie Galipeau, as well as local Huron county cellist Thomas Beard. These young professional musicians in the Montreal music scene have performed individually across Canada, the United States, and overseas, and now play frequently together in various orchestra and chamber music settings, and are thrilled to be coming to the area to share some of their favourite tunes with you.
Our guest artists for this show will be Nicole Reid and Paul Earle. Both of these musicians share a strong connection with Kincardine via the Christmas tradition of the Messiah each year - Nicole has played many performances in the violin section of the orchestra and later as a
