Welcome to the 19th annual Reelout Queer Film + Video Festival! This year, we selected the largest committee of diverse community members to program the festival and I’m happy to say they did not disappoint. In 2018 we are serving up cinematic REELness with hot and fresh documentaries and a generous side of some of the most delicious short films from around the world. Reelout is thrilled to be setting up camp at Kingston’s locally-owned and operated The Screening Room in their newly opened Roxy Theatre. Major renovations will still be underway to ensure the theatre will be 100% accessible so we apologize in advance for the deconstructivism in the lobby. Over the next ten days, we hope you will make new friends, learn new things, financially support our sponsors/advertisers, and gain new outlooks on life. Our focus each and every year is on films that address issues of not only gender and sexual orientation, but also intersecting identities of race, ability, class, and age. There are 21 dishes served over ten days, each guaranteed to transport you somewhere completely unique each time where you’ll meet an entirely new cast of characters both real and imagined. This is a feast for film lovers so we hope you gorge heartily! Bon Appetit! Matt Salton, Executive Director on behalf of the Reelout Arts Project Inc. staff and board of directors.
