A Very Leila Christmas
DEC 11-15, 2019
Kitchener-Waterloo's favourite holiday trend is back for a third year!
Superstar LEILA returns with her fabulous hit show, A Very Leila Christmas, about the adventures of her first Christmas in Canada. If you've been to a Leila show before, we assume you are part of her cult following and welcome you back with open arms! If you've never been to a Leila show before, prepare yourself for one of the funniest, most ridiculous, fabulous theatrical experiences of your life. Come and experience the LEILA phenomenon for yourself.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Leila has recently immigrated to Canada from Tehran, Iran and has her first job: as a customer service rep in a call centre during the holiday season. This inspires her to learn what this “Christmas-thing Canadians seem to love so much” is all about. To impress a co-worker she promises to throw the ultimate Christmas party – things get out of hand - and hilarity ensues.
Filled with playful audience interactions, there is dancing, singing, tree decorating, and sugar cookies... No matter who you are, where you come from, or what you celebrate, Leila will capture your heart and show you how we are all much more similar to each other than we are different. A Very Leila Christmas will get you in the Holiday spirit, make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and absolutely leave you in stitches.

ABOUT GREEN LIGHT ARTS
Founded in 2014 by Matt White and Carin Lowerison, Green Light Arts is a not-for-profit theatre company based in Waterloo Region. Our mission is to develop, produce and present entertaining, challenging, and unique theatre experiences that engage and inspire audiences to make the world a better place. We strive to cultivate a relevant artistic voice in contemporary society and use theatre as the beginning of a conversation to encourage audiences towards positive social change.
To date, Green Light Arts has delivered 20 theatrical projects to Waterloo Region. Their recent co-production, Guarded Girls, commissioned from Charlotte Corbeil-Coleman and developed with Tarragon Theatre, won the 2019 Dora Mavor Moore award for Outstanding New Play. Other projects for the 2019-20 Season include: Sudden Death (Jan 23-Feb 2, 2020), Chautauqua (June 17-21, 2020), and two plays in-development: (m)otherhood and Anywhere But Here.
Our vision is that professional, contemporary, and experimental theatre will be strongly associated with Waterloo Region's cultural identity. And that the artform of theatre will have new relevance and urgency in modern society.
