About The Order

The Order was a landmark LGBTQ-friendly nightclub located in Uptown Waterloo, Ontario, known for creating a safe and welcoming space where both LGBTQ and straight patrons could socialize and celebrate together. Established in 2012 by local entrepreneurs Devon McKenzie, Rami Said, and Brett Cullen, the venue quickly became a cornerstone of the Waterloo nightlife scene, hosting themed nights, dance events, and community gatherings that fostered inclusivity and camaraderie. Its intimate layout allowed for a close-knit, energetic atmosphere with music spanning Top 40, electronic, and pop genres, while its central location on King Street made it easily accessible to students and residents alike. The Order was more than just a nightclub—it served as a cultural hub for the LGBTQ community, supporting local artists, drag performers, and special events, helping to raise awareness and pride throughout the region. Unfortunately, the venue permanently closed in 2017, leaving a noticeable gap in Waterloo's nightlife and queer-friendly spaces, but its legacy remains a celebrated part of the city's social history.
