Elora Legion Branch 229, located at 110 Metcalfe Street, Elora, Ontario, has been a cornerstone of the community since it received its charter on April 9, 1932.
As part of the Royal Canadian Legion, the branch proudly supports veterans, their families, and the greater Elora area, having donated over $750,000 to causes such as seniors' groups, minor sports teams, hospitals, cadets, and scouts.
The Legion' s facilities include a welcoming Club Room (open seven days a week) and a hall rental space with a seating capacity of 200+, suitable for weddings, banquets, meetings, and community events.
The organization is active year-round, offering a calendar of events that includes bingo nights, dances, fundraisers, remembrance services, and more.
In addition to social activities, the Elora Legion offers veteran services, youth bursaries, and runs the unique Tabs 4 Wheelchairs project, which has distributed nearly 3,000 wheelchairs to date. Their dedication to remembrance is also evident in the upkeep of local cenotaphs and support for commemorative events.
Whether you're a veteran, a supporter, or just curious about local history and community, you're invited to stop by the branch.
