About The Capitol Theatre of Windsor

Located at 121 University Avenue West in Downtown Windsor, Ontario, the Capitol Theatre is one of the city's most treasured cultural landmarks. Opened in 1920 by the Loew Theater Company and designed by renowned architect Thomas W. Lamb, it was once Canada's largest single-floor theatre, seating nearly 2,000 guests. Today, this beautifully restored heritage building is owned by the City of Windsor and operated by the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. The venue features three performance spaces: the Pentastar Theatre (620 seats), the Kelly Theatre (200 seats), and the Joy Theatre (smaller and flexible for intimate events). Together, they offer versatility for concerts, plays, film screenings, dance performances, private rentals, and community events. With its grand architecture, modern technical capabilities, and central downtown location, the Capitol Theatre continues to serve as a hub for Windsor's vibrant arts and entertainment scene. From world-class symphonies to local productions and film festivals, the Capitol provides audiences with an unforgettable cultural experience.
