Crywank is a Manchester-based English anti-folk band formed in 2009, known for its raw, emotionally honest approach to songwriting, blending elements of folk, sadcore, and indie rock. The band is a trio consisting of founder and vocalist/guitarist Jay Clayton, drummer Dan Watson who joined in 2012, and bassist Jules Noel, a more recent addition in 2024, creating a dynamic and evolving lineup that continues to shape their sound. Crywank’s music is often introspective and confessional, tackling themes of personal struggle, heartbreak, self-doubt, and existential reflection, earning them a dedicated following among fans of melancholic yet relatable songwriting. They have independently released a series of albums including James Is Going to Die Soon (2010), Narcissist On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown (2012), Tomorrow Is Nearly Yesterday and Everyday Is Stupid (2013), and more recent works like Just Popping in to Say Hi (2021) and Fist Me 'Til Your Hand Comes out My Mouth (2020), showcasing both consistency and creative experimentation. Known for energetic, honest live performances and extensive touring, Crywank maintains a strong DIY ethic and international cult following.
